Changing the Trajectory of Children’s Lives

One Kid at a Time

“We were finally able to get answers around the challenges our neurodivergent son was experiencing. We were able to get a handle on his behaviors and gain insight on how to help.”

Kid S.M.A.R.T. (Support for Medication, Assessment, Research, and Therapy) is a nonprofit organization that serves the Nashville, Tennessee area.

Who We Are

We are a team of specialty providers who serve youth with complex medical or neurologic conditions to better understand their thinking, learning, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.

Why We Do It

Many kids have limited access to high-quality mental health services as a result of economic hardship and/or systemic racial disparities. We believe that providing appropriate diagnoses and individually tailored recommendations as early as possible is the best way to ensure a brighter future for the next generation.

How We Do It

We provide scholarship funds obtained through community partnerships, grants, and individual donations to bridge the care gap for families who are unable to afford neuropsychological services for their children. We collaborate with organizations who support economically-disadvantaged children, as well as referral sources like primary care physicians (e.g., pediatricians) and specialty providers (e.g., neurologists and psychiatrists). Families may contact Kid S.M.A.R.T. directly through our website or be referred to us by other local organizations.

Mission

At Kid S.M.A.R.T. our mission is to expand the reach of comprehensive neuropsychological assessments and follow-up services to medically complex and under-resourced youth and their families. We work to increase awareness of the value-added services provided by neuropsychologists and other specialty mental health providers as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Vision

To improve the trajectory of children's lives through early identification of developmental and behavioral differences using neuropsychological assessment and tailored follow-up services.

Values

  1. Provide collaborative, compassionate, trustworthy, and accessible evidenced-based care.

  2. Respect that each family has unique needs and circumstances.
