Neurodevelopmental Evaluations
Ages 1 – 5 years
Testing for Delays in Development for Ages 0- 5 years
We provide neurodevelopmental evaluations to infants as young as 8 weeks of age. The purpose of these evaluations is to screen for potential developmental delays in the areas of receptive and expressive language, fine and gross motor skills, and visual receptive skills. Caregivers will provide information about perinatal, developmental, and medical history and complete questionnaires to assess their child’s socio-emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning. Our providers will assist parents in obtaining resources and early intervention services targeted to the specific areas of need.
Appropriate reasons for referral include:
Suspected developmental delays in motor and language skills
Medical/neurologic conditions (e.g., seizure disorder, genetic conditions, craniosynostosis, prematurity, prenatal drug exposure)
Kindergarten readiness evaluations
Preliminary screening for psychological issues common at this age
Neuropsychological Evaluations
Ages 6 - 18 years
Testing for Cognitive and Behavioral Differences and Screening for Psychological Concerns

Neuropsychological evaluations detect the cognitive impact of various medical/neurological conditions that occur as part of development (“developmental”) or happen later in life (“acquired”). Domains assessed include IQ, attention/executive functioning, verbal and visual learning and memory, verbal/language skills, visual-spatial processing, fine motor coordination, visual-motor integration, and processing speed.
Commonly occurring conditions that may result in cognitive difficulties include:
Head Injury/concussion/traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Seizure Disorders/Epilepsy-generalized (absence) or localized
Brain tumor/cancer (e.g., ALL, medulloblastoma, posterior fossa tumor)
Congenital heart disease
Genetic/Chromosomal Disorders (e.g., Fragile X, Turner syndrome, Down syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, disorders causing intellectual disability or Autism Spectrum Disorder)
Late effects of Prematurity
Developmental impact from prenatal alcohol or drug exposure (e.g., Neonatal abstinence syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder)
Neurocutaneous Disorders (e.g., Neurofibromatosis)
Sickle Cell Disease/stroke (perinatal stroke or childhood onset)
Infections (e.g., Meningitis, encephalitis)
We also screen for psychological factors commonly associated with these conditions such as:
Inattention and/or hyperactivity/impulsivity
Anxiety and depression
Behavioral issues related to oppositionality, defiance, or aggression
Social issues such as Autism Spectrum Disorder or Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder
